Build the control plane for privileged access

We're a small, senior team shipping a product we'd want to use ourselves. If privileged access, identity, or secure infrastructure is the problem you actually enjoy thinking about, you'll likely fit in here.

Why Wardengate

The shape of the work

01
Work on a product you can defend

Privileged access is one of the highest-stakes surfaces in a modern estate. What we ship has to hold up to real audits, real incidents, and real operators—no vanity metrics, no demo-ware.

02
Small pods, wide ownership

Two to five people per pod, each owning a meaningful slice of the platform end to end. You decide the shape of what you build, not which Jira ticket to drag into review.

03
Senior-heavy team

Everyone here has shipped infrastructure, security, or developer tools at scale before. Expect high context, short meetings, and strong defaults around written thinking.

How we work

Remote-first, async, small pods

We optimize for durable output, not perpetual presence. That shows up in a few concrete defaults.

Remote-first

No headquarters-centric culture. Roles are open across North American and European time zones unless explicitly noted.

Async by default

Written docs, recorded walkthroughs, and deliberate review cycles. Real-time time is spent on decisions that need it—not status.

Deep work, protected

Two meeting-light days a week across the company. Interviews and all-hands are scheduled around them.

Ship, review, iterate

Small, reversible changes reach production behind flags. Incidents are learning artifacts, not punishments.

Benefits

What comes with the role

Compensation

Competitive cash and meaningful equity, benchmarked against a public, updated salary band.

Health & wellbeing

Medical, dental, and vision fully covered for employees and dependents in supported regions.

Time off

Unlimited PTO with a 20-day minimum, plus a one-week company-wide shutdown each year.

Equipment

Annual hardware budget and a home-office stipend. Bring the setup you actually want to work on.

Learning

Budget for conferences, courses, and security training. Time to use it is part of the plan, not a favor.

Parental leave

Sixteen weeks fully paid for all new parents, with a gradual ramp-back schedule.

Open roles

Positions we're currently hiring for

Don't see your exact role but think you'd fit? Reach out anyway—we hire carefully and we're always interested in meeting strong operators.

Senior Backend Engineer, Access Gateway

Engineering
Remote (US / EU)
Apply via contact

You’ll work deep in the gateway: connection brokering for SSH, RDP, and database protocols, policy evaluation under real traffic, and the session lifecycle that produces our audit evidence. Strong background in systems programming, concurrency, and wire protocols expected.

Staff Security Engineer

Security
Remote (US)
Apply via contact

You’ll be the most senior security voice embedded with product and engineering. Expect to run threat models on new features before code lands, coordinate with our external assessors, and own our vulnerability response process end to end.

Senior Frontend Engineer, Admin Console

Engineering
Remote (US / EU)
Apply via contact

The admin console is where security teams actually manage Wardengate. You’ll design and build the surfaces for policy authoring, session review, and approval workflows alongside a small design-engineering pod. Strong product sense and comfort with dense, data-heavy interfaces required.

Site Reliability Engineer

Engineering
Remote (US / EU)
Apply via contact

You’ll own reliability primitives for the managed control plane: SLOs, observability stacks, load testing, and on-call tooling. Expect to shape the production readiness bar for every new service our product pods ship.

Detection & Response Engineer

Security
Remote (US)
Apply via contact

You’ll translate the structured evidence the gateway produces into useful detections for SOCs—both ours and our customers’. Background in detection engineering, SIEM content development, or threat hunting in a modern enterprise strongly preferred.

Solutions Engineer

Go-to-market
Remote (North America)
Apply via contact

You’ll work directly with prospective customers—usually security architects and infrastructure leads—to design rollouts that account for their actual estate. Strong infrastructure or security-engineering background required; this is a technical role with sales partnership, not the other way around.

Enterprise Account Executive

Go-to-market
Remote (US East / West)
Apply via contact

We sell to security and infrastructure leaders who are generally skeptical of vendor claims—rightly so. You’ll partner with a Solutions Engineer on every opportunity and work from a product that earns its place on its merits. Track record selling platform or security products to enterprise buyers expected.

Technical Writer, Documentation

Engineering
Remote (US / EU)
Apply via contact

You’ll partner with engineering and security to produce installation guides, reference docs, and operator runbooks that people actually want to read. Experience documenting infrastructure, security, or developer-tools products at depth strongly preferred.
